Water when new
Water regularly when newly planted, especially during dry periods. Once the roots have established, it will need very little watering except in prolonged hot and dry periods.

Plant in a north, west or east facing position in an exposed or sheltered position.
Any moist, well-drained soil
Will grow happily in chalk, loam or sandy soil as long as it is well drained and kept moist.
