Corkscrew Willow | Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa'

Uniquely-shaped twisting and contorting branches

The Highlights

    • Twisting and contorted branches creates a unique shape
    • Fresh, bright green foliage contrasts beautifully with their distinct copper stems, with upswept branches creating a mass of curly green
    • An ideal choice for a site where winter interest is required
    • Small yellow catkins appear in spring followed by narrow, mid-green summer foliage
    • Smooth bark adds to the texture of this Dragon's Claw Willow Tree
    • Grows up to 15x8m
    • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post.MORE
    • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch.
    • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE

Know Your Plant

Supplied as:

Bare Root
Our trees are supplied as “bare roots” meaning that the roots of the trees are established below the ground but not actively growing (dormant) between November and March. As bare roots are stored without any soil or pot, they would easily settle themselves when in contact with soil in your garden. Don't panic if your tree is not showing any sign of growth above the ground comes April, as its still in the dormant phase.
