Care Guide
Good pest and disease resistance
Dianthus have generally good pest and disease resistance but can have issues with slugs and snails when young. Keep the area around the plant debris free and as dry as possible, especially at night as slugs and snails love damp conditions. You can use barriers such as crushed egg shells, grit or copper wire to surround the plant - these will prevent slugs and snails from reaching the leaves.
Water Often in Summer
Dianthus thrive in moist soil so make sure you water often so that the soil does not dry out. During hot and dry spells this could require watering every couple of days.
Full sun
Plant your Dianthus in a sunny sheltered spot where they will enjoy 6-8 hours of sunlight daily
Any fertile, well-drained soil
Plant in any fertile, well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly poor or clay heavy, add some garden compost with perlite to improve drainage.
Not Required
Don't worry, this isn't a hungry plant so your food bills won't be going up! ?v=1613300718
