  • Velvety dark blue-green foliage with silver veining and a burgundy underside which  turns a fiery ruby red in autumn
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner for reliable, vigorous growth
  • Happy in any light conditions from full sun to shade
  • Can grow to 6-9m, easy to prune - a less vigorous alternative to Virginia Creeper
  • Easy to care for and generally disease free
  • Ideal for covering a wall, trellis, fence or structures like sheds and garages. Chinese Virginia Creeper also makes excellent groundcover under trees in a woodland planting scheme
  • Support required until well established Until the plant has managed to establish itself it will need to be supported. Use a small trellis, series of canes, or some wall wiring. MORE
  • Please Note: Our climbers are pruned back each winter, and some during the summer, so you may find at certain times of year they do not cover the whole 90cm cane. This is intentional to ensure the best growth when you plant out

Parthenocissus are vigorous climbers growing 10-20 m high (1-2 m of new growth a year). How To Grow

Good Pest and Disease Resistance

Is generally disease free. The plant may have issues with Red Spider Mites and Vine Weevils. Inspect the leaves regularly for signs pests, including webs and notches bitten into the foliage. If you find Red Spider Mites then try misting the plant as they thrive in more dry conditions. If you find Vine Weevils then try to pick off as many of the adults and the larvae as possible. If necessary there are pesticides you can use to try to control the bugs.MORE

Water Often in First Year

In the first year of you planting the plant, youwill want to water it often to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during prolonged dry and hot periods. As the plant establishes itself, however, its watering needs will decrease to the point where it should be self sufficient in all but the hotest of droughts.

Full Sun to Full Shade

This variety can cope in full sun to full shade and everything in between.

Any Moist but Well-Drained Soil

If your soil is particularly clay heavy and gets waterlogged often, make sure you mix in plenty of organic matter and perhaps even gravel or perlite to help improve drainage.

Not Required

Don't worry, this isn't a hungry plant so your food bills won't be going up!
