Fertile, Well-Draining Soil

Celery needs very fertile soil. A good-mix to use is three parts quality compost to one part topsoil. Celery would also benefit from a sprinkle of chicken manure pellets on the soil before planting to give it an extra boost of nurtiires. MORE

Feed Regularly

After several weeks, sprinkling a feed of chicken manure pellets will help give the plants an additional nutrients boost. You can also add a layer (2 inches) of garden compost to act as a mulch–giving the soil more nutrients and helping to lock in moisture.MORE
