The Highlights

    • Stunning fiery red and yellow semi-double flowers
    • Huge bright-red petals make for an incredibly display
    • A beautiful flower for a pot or bed
    • Can be picked to make floral bouquets
    • Perfect flower for colour in late Summer through to Autumn
    • Cutting-Raised: more healthy and vigorous plants When a plant is 'Cutting-Raised' that means the plant was grown from the cutting of another plant of that same variety. That means it is an exact clone of that plant. Of course, we pick only the strongest and healthiest plants to take cuttings from and so when a plant is Cutting-Raised they tend to be healthier and more vigorous which means they'll flower more heavily for a longer period of time than a plant that was raised from seed.MORE
    • For best results space 8 inches apart in the a bed/ border
    • Our jumbo plugs will be delivered in mid April. By this time, they will be a good size, the risk of frost will be gone and the ground will be warm and they will shoot off!

Care Guide

Good Pest and Disease Resistance

Dahlias can have issues with Slugs, Aphids Capsid Bugs, Earwigs and Powdery Mildew. to defend against the bacterial infections you try to maintain good garden hygiene. Space the plants out adequately to allow for good air circulation so it does not become to crowded and humid within the leaves. For Slugs and Snails, it is important to keep the area around the plant debris free and as dry as possible, especially at night as slugs and snails love damp conditions. You can use barriers such as egg shells or copper wire to surround the plant to prevent slugs and snails reaching the leaves. For Aphids, check the leaves regularly for any possible infestation. If you see some, try to pick the bugs off with your hands and spray the infected area with some soapy water. You can also plant a companion plant nearby, such as Marigolds, which will attract predatory insects such as ladybirds that will eat the aphids. MORE

Water Often

Water well especially during hot and dry periods. It is best to water Dahlias once a week deeply. However, if the plant looks distressed during prolonged hot periods you may want to water more often.MORE

Full Sun

Dahlias should be planted somewhere they receive around 6-8 hours of direct sunlight every day.MORE

Fertile, Well-Draining Soil

The best soil to use is a quality potting mix or garden compost which is filled with rich organic matter and drains water away easily.MORE

Feed Regularly

Apply a general purpose feed at the planting time. Then, from July to September feed every two weeks with a high-potash liquid feed such as tomato feed.MORE

Prune Regularly

For best results in terms of flowers, you should regularly check and deadhead (remove old, dead flowers) the plant.MORE
