Lavender only needs to be watered regularly in summer during the first year after planting or if you are keeping the plant in a container. If you plant Lavender in the ground it should not need much watering if at all past the first year after it has managed to establish itself.MORE

Any Average, Well-Drained Soil

Lavender does well in any average, well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.MORE
