Care Guide

Good Pest and Disease Resistance

Foxgloves can have issues with Aphids and Powdery Mildew. To prevent Powdery Mildew you should try to prevent crowded and humid conditions. Properly space plants apart and get rid of any weeds. Water at the soil and try to prevent soil splashing from the soil onto the leaves. To combat Aphids you can pick away the bugs with your hands and also wash the infested areas down with soapy water. MORE

Water Regularly in Summer

Foxgloves thrive in moist soil so you must ensure the ground does not dry out. During hot and dry periods this could require you having to water the plant as much as once a day in mid-summer.MORE

Full Sun to Partial Shade

Can cope in an area of partial shade where it may receive around 4-6 hours of dappled light every day.MORE

Moist and Well-Drained Soil

Foxgloves can thrive in a variety of soils as long as it is moist but well-draining. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or gets waterlogged, or is very sandy and dry, then consider mixing in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost and possibly some perlite to improve drainage.MORE

Feed Lightly

Every spring you may want to apply some slow-release general purpose plant food to boost the plants nutrients.MORE

Prune Regularly

Deadhead the plant to encourage new growth and cut the plant back to near the base after the flowering has finished to promote healthy new growth the following year. Wash hands after coming in contact with the plant.MORE
