Care Guide

Good pest and disease resistance

Foxgloves can have issues with Aphids and Powdery Mildew. To prevent Powdery Mildew you should try to prevent crowded and humid conditions. Properly space plants apart and get rid of any weeds. Water at the soil and try to prevent soil splashing from the soil onto the leaves. To combat Aphids you can pick away the bugs with your hands and also wash the infested areas down with soapy water.MORE

Water regularly in summer

Foxgloves thrive in moist soil so you must ensure the ground does not dry out. During hot and dry periods this could require you having to water the plant as much as once a day in mid-summer.MORE

Full Sun to Partial Shade

Thrives in a position of full sun or partial shade, preferably with at least 4 hours of sunlight each day.MORE

Any moist, well-drained soil

Foxgloves can thrive in a variety of soils as long as it is moist but well-draining. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or gets waterlogged, or is very sandy and dry, then consider mixing in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost and possibly some perlite to improve drainage.MORE

Feed lightly

Feed every spring with a balanced granular plant foodMORE

Prune lightly

Prune away flower stems after the bloom has finished and give the plant a little tidy up in spring removing any dead leaves.MORE
