Care Guide

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Nerines are generally unbothered by pests and diseases. Young plants may need protection against slugs and snails.MORE

Water regularly

Water the plants to keep the soil consistently moist. During hot, dry, spells this means watering the plants at least once a day. You may need to water twice a day if the plants begin to look distressed during hot periods.MORE

Full sun

Nerines should be planted where they will receive around 6-8 hours of direct sunlight every day.MORE

Moist, well-drained soil

Nerines do well in any moist, well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.MORE

Feed lightly

Feed with a slow-release general fertiliser in the spring to improve plant vigour and blooms.MORE

No pruning required

Low maintenance plant, does not need pruning (although you can deadhead the blooms as they finish)MORE
