The highlights

  • Masses of vibrant yellow F1 cherry tomatoes
  • A beautiful balance of acidity and sweetness
  • Resistant to several diseases and cracking
  • Plant in spring, harvest in summer

Description

  • This highly productive cherry tomato plant bears large quantities of sweet, golden yellow fruit - with each tomato weighing roughly 20g
  • Ideal as a standalone snack, and perfect for adding a pop of sunny colour to fresh salads, these tomatoes can also be roasted or sun-dried for equally delicious results
  • This is an indeterminate (cordon) variety, meaning that the stem will need to be tied to a cane or vertical support at regular intervals. For the best results, grow in a sheltered spot in full sun, or in a greenhouse
  • F1 hybrid tomatoes are often more disease and resistant than other varieties, and 'Goldwin' is no exception; it's resistant to a variety of diseases and viruses, including Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt and ToMV
  • These premium, garden ready tomato plants are grown on a family run farm, in Lancashire, and sent to you at the very best time for planting - no need to faff about with seeds!

How To Grow

Good pest and disease resistance

The main pests and diseases that affect tomatoes are whitefly, aphids and tomato blight. It is important to look out for yellow and curling leaves or rotting fruit as a sign of these. You can prevent blight by keeping leaves away from the soil and also keeping the leaves as dry as possible. If you find whitefly or aphids on your plant try spraying them off with water. You can also plant marigolds which will attract natural predators such as ladybirds which will eat the pests. 'Goldwin' is resistant to Tomato Mosaic Virus, Verticillium Wilt and Fusarium Wilt.

Water regularly

Tomatoes are thirsty plants! Water the plants regularly to keep the ground constantly moist. If you are unsure, feel the soil with your hand. If it feels dry up to a fingernail deep then you can give the plant a watering. During very hot, dry spells you may have to water up to twice a day.

Full sun

Tomatoes need to be planted in full sun. This should be somewhere where they will receive 6-8 hours of sunlight every day.

Any fertile, well-draining soil

Thrives in any well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.

Feed regularly

Once flowers appear, feed every week with a high potash feed (liquid tomato feed, for example).
