'Crimson King' Purple-Leaved Maple Tree
- With its deep burgundy-to-purple, five-lobed leaves and attractive bushy habit, ‘Crimson King’ is a maple cultivar most definitely worthy of that moniker.
- The definition of a multi-season deciduous tree, this maple takes on scorching shades of red, bronze and orange in autumn, as well as boasting earthy, reddish flowers in spring.
- Fully hardy, easily pruned to just three or four metres in height, and tolerant of urban pollution, this variety is an excellent choice for city gardens and roadside plantings.
- The Norway maple, Acer platanoides, is one of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Plants for Pollinators, indicating its worth to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.
- A deserving recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, ‘Crimson King’ has been recognised as performing very well in UK gardens.
