Description
- This easy-growing climbing clematis is spectacular in the truest sense of the word, boasting extravagant purple flowers atop elegant long stems, throughout summer and into the autumn
- Blooming between June and October, this plant's flowers are single to start with, but become double as time goes on, adopting a rosette-like appearance. And frankly, we wouldn't be surprised if this plant won its own rosette or two - we certainly feel it deserves to
- Speaking of awards, 'Kokonoe' was, in fact, shortlisted for the 2019 RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year, so it's not just us that love this clematis!
- This climber is the perfect plant to put in a pot with an obelisk and star as the focal point of the patio. Alternatively, it will grow just as well when dressed up a south-facing wall or fence
- Lush dark green foliage provides excellent visual contrast to the royal purple flowers, allowing the blooms to really come to the fore
- Pruning group 3 – prune 'Kokonoe' nice and hard (in early springtime) to a healthy bud approximately 30cm from the ground
- Please Note: Our climbers are pruned back each winter, and some during the summer, so you may find at certain times of year they do not cover the whole 90cm cane. This is intentional to ensure the best growth when you plant out

How To Grow
Good pest and disease resistance
Can occasionally be affected by aphids - if you spot them, they can be wiped off with a damp cloth and the affected area sprayed with soapy water to prevent a recurrence. Clematis wilt can be avoided by ensuring your plants have the correct balance of nutrients. Dig in plenty of compost when planting, and mulch around the plant in the autumn.
Keep Moist And Water During Dry Spells
Water frequently while the plant is getting established, and always keep moist.
Full sun to partial shade
Clematis vines like full sun, aiming for at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Their roots and base, by contrast, prefer shady conditions to keep cool - use gravel, mulch, ground cover plants or a shade cloth to achieve this.
Any moist, well-drained soil
Clematis will grow well in any soil type providing it is moist and well drained. If your soil is heavy or clay-based, mix in some fine gravel or perlite when planting, to help with drainage.
Feed every spring
Feed at least once annually, and up to 2-3 times a year, with potassium rich fertiliser or rose feed to encourage better flower growth.

When will I get my plants?
The delivery timescale for each plant is on the web page (near the 'add to basket's button). You'll receive a dispatch email with an exact delivery date once your plants are on their way, so you can get the garden ready.

Where do you deliver?
We deliver to anywhere in Mainland UK for our standard delivery cost. We are able to deliver most plants to Highlands and non UK mainland however this will be at an additional cost. This will be calculated at the checkout. Please note, deliveries to these locations will take longer. Unfortunately, we are not able to deliver to Northern Ireland at present.

Excellent delivery and service
Well, the delivery was spot on, the tree looks healthy enough for a sleeping plant, although at the moment most of the branches are on one side of the trunk which in itself is bent banana-style. quite wonky. One can only hope that it grows into a fruitful plant with some character?

Nice sized tree in good condition
Time will tell on the quality of the product (bare-root apple trees), but the stems that arrived seemed in great condition and very well packaged so no damage in transit. Looking forward to Spring!
