how to grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Blueberries generally have no problems but you may need to protect the developing fruit with netting to avoid the birds eating it! Can occasionally be affected by powdery mildew - you can avoid this by spacing plants well apart and watering at the base to avoid splashing water on the foliage.

Water regularly in summer

Wherever possible, water your blueberry bushes with rainwater. Tap water will raise the pH level and blueberries prefer acidic conditions.

Full sun

Blueberries can deal with a little light shade but fruit best in a sheltered position with at least 6 hours of sunlight daily

Acidic soil

Blueberries need light, free-draining acidic soil. If your soil is not acidic, plant your blueberries in a pot with ericaceous compost.

Feed annually

Blueberries need minimal feeding other than a yearly mulch of organic matter such as bark chips in late winter. Avoid overfeeding, as blueberries are sensitive to high fertiliser levels. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0513/3428/3424/files/pruning_3x_4d3eaf73-f629-45e0-87a5-6f14f5f005fc.png?v=1613300929
