Everlasting Sweet Pea | Lathyrus latifolius 'Pink'

Blush pink blooms all summer long

The Highlights

    • Masses of delicate lilac-rose tinted sweet pea-like flowers scrambling through fresh grey-green foliage
    • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner
    • Flowers from June to September
    • A vigorous perennial climber which will quickly cover a sunny wall, this also looks pretty grown through a hedge or evergreen shrub or up a trellis
    • Unlike the annual sweet pea, it has no fragrance but is highly attractive to pollinators
    • Perfect for the cutting garden - fill your vases and save air miles!
    • For the best flower production, pinch out the shoot tips to encourage and tie in new shoots to a support
    • Please Note: Our climbers are pruned back each winter, and some during the summer, so you may find at certain times of year they do not cover the whole 90cm cane. This is intentional to ensure the best growth when you plant out

Care Guide

Excellent pest and disease resistance

This hardy plant has very few problems. If kept in a damp setting with low air circulation and not enough sunlight, sweet pea plants may experience problems with snails, slugs, fungal related problems such as grey mould and mildew. To prevent these problems, choose a bright, airy location with well-draining soil for your sweet peas. Avoid overwatering and be careful to water at the base of the plant and avoid splashing the leaves.

Water regularly at first

Water frequently when your plant is newly planted and getting established. After that, water during dry spells and avoid the soil drying out.

Full sun to partial shade

Everlasting Sweet Peas will thrive in partial shade but will produce more flowers in full sun (at least six hours of daily sunlight)

Fertile, hummus rich well drained soil

Lathyrus prefers a loamy, hummus rich fertile soil but will thrive in most soil types. If your soil is heavy or clay-based, mix in some fine gravel or perlite when planting, to help with drainage.

No feeding needed

No need to feed, but it can be helpful to dig in plenty of well rotted compost or manure when planting ?v=1613300929
