Heavenly Bamboo
Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream'
- With its boldly-coloured foliage, delicate white flower panicles and shiny red autumn berries, this heavenly bamboo is, well, exactly that - heavenly!
- A neat, compact shrub, the evergreen leaves of 'Gulf Stream' start out a bronze shade, before turning green and then ending up in golden and red hues come the end of the year.
- Growing to just over a metre in height, this plant will also grow nicely in a large container on a sunny patio. Just give it a nice, loamy compost and it'll be good to go.
- Plant your heavenly bamboo as a standalone feature shrub, or plant them in en masse to create a stunning low-growing hedge.
- Did you know? Despite its name, heavenly bamboo isn't actually a bamboo, but its upright stems and similar foliage led to it receiving the moniker. It's also sometimes called sacred bamboo.
