- Starting out a bright green colour in the spring, this shrubby tree's leaves adopt orange and red hues as autumn swings into focus
- One of the things we love most about acers like this one is how versatile they are - plant it as part of a Japanese-style rock garden, feature it in a contemporary urban space or incorporate it within a mixed shrub border

Good pest and disease resistance
Acers don't typically encounter many problems with pests or diseases. They may be prone to the odd visit from an aphid or two, but these can easily be washed off by spraying with soapy water.
Water well when establishing
Routine watering throughout its first growing season will help your acer establish nicely. Beyond this, additional watering will only typically be needed in hot, dry spells.
Full sun to partial shade
Your acer's leaves will display the best colour when planted in partial shade (four to six hours of direct sunlight per day).
Any moist, well-drained soil
Acers grow best in moisture-retentive soil that still drains well. They typically prefer a slightly acidic to neutral soil.
Feed every February
Although feeding isn't strictly necessary, a winter application of general-purpose fertiliser can be beneficial to your acer.
