Persian Ironwood Tree
Parrotia persica 'Bella'
- A compact and slow growing deciduous tree with attractive flaking bark, glossy green foliage and lots of small red flowers on bare stems from late winter to spring
- Grows to 8m and can be pruned smaller to fit any size of garden
- Puts on a fabulous display of vibrant reds, purples and yellows in autumn
- Hardy, low maintenance and grows in pretty much any conditions except total shade. Minimal pruning needed
- Can be used as a tree or a shrub to form the backdrop of a mixed border or stand alone as a feature plant

Yes, Persian Ironwood Tree can be grown in a pot initially. Start with a 50cm pot. Depending on its vigour, it may need moving to the ground after a few years. Ensure adequate drainage and water regularly during warm weather above 20°C.

The Persian Ironwood Tree reaches a mature height of 8 to 10 metres, with a spread of 6 to 8 metres, although it can be maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning.
