- The sight of a sun-soaked olive tree on a hot summer's day might make you first think of an Italian or Greek hillside, but the reality is that it could be from your very own kitchen window!
- Growing to just a metre-and-a-half (or so) in height, our patio olive trees are perfect for terraces and balconies, as well as planting as part of landscaped borders.
- Place your tree in a sunny, sheltered position, then sit back and enjoy its elliptical evergreen foliage and dainty white flowers that appear from late spring into early summer.
- This tree looks fantastic as part of a broader Mediterranean planting scheme; plant alongside patio citrus and fig trees, lavender hedges and star jasmine for some added verticality.

Good pest and disease resistance
Though a generally robust tree, you might need to watch out for scale insects and olive scab.
Water regularly throughout the growing season
Give your olive tree enough watering during the growing season so that its soil remains moist. This is especially important if growing in a container.
Full sun
Plant somewhere your olive tree will receive at least six hours of direct sunlight per day.
Any deep, fertile, well-drained soil or gritty compost.
Plant your olive tree in soil with very good drainage (they're a drought-tolerant tree used to arid conditions, so good drainage is key). If you're growing your olive tree in a patio pot, plant it in loam-based, gritty compost (something like John Innes No.3 with added grit works well).
Feed monthly throughout the growing season
In the growing season, feed your olive tree each month with a general liquid feed.
