Red Japanese Maple Tree
Acer palmatum 'Red Emperor'
- ‘Red Emperor’ is a medium-sized, deciduous tree notable for its incredibly attractive foliage and excellent autumn colour. Truly a showstopper!
- The five-lobed leaves are serrated and start out wine-red before turning a bright red colour in the autumn. This Japanese maple bears its foliage later in the year, reducing risk of damage by frost.
- The foliage is held on striking burgundy-black stems, resulting in a tree whose visual impact is practically unmatched. Slow-growing, ‘Red Emperor’ is an excellent choice for small gardens where space is more limited.
- Easy to grow and hardy enough (RHS H5) to withstand British winters, you could pair this tree with plants like bamboo, cherry blossoms and wisteria to create a Japanese-style planting scheme.
