Juncus effusus
- Arching fans of smooth, bright emerald green upright stems
- Miniature greenish-brown flowers appear just below the stems from June to August
- This perennial native plant provides year round interest. In warmer areas it remains green all year round; in colder parts of the UK it turns golden yellow in autumn before browning in the winter
- Plant in the shallows at the edge of a pond, in water and bog gardens or in containers
- These are the rushes that were used as a floor covering in Tudor times
- May help control erosion on banks
- A striking vertical accent plant which provides shelter and perching places for wildlife including damselflies and dragonflies
