Sweet Gum are not thirsty trees so only water when needed. If the soil is damp to the touch, the tree doesn't require any water
Full Sun to Partial Shade
Position in full sun (6h+) for the best Autumn colour, but will tolerate partial shade
Happy in most soils
Can grow in almost any soil from sandy to clay and from acidic to slightly alkaline
