'Weiki' Kiwi Plant
Actinidia arguta (Male)
- Besides being highly ornamental in its own right, this kiwi vine is the perfect companion for your female (or self-fertile) kiwi vines to help bear bumper crops of fruit.
- The twining stems are a rich burgundy hue and bear large, ovate, bristly leaves in a lush mid-green. In summer, the vine bears charming white flowers which boast a delicate perfume.
- Growing to around four metres in height, though easily kept smaller, this vine is perfect for growing in a sunny spot on the patio or balcony. Just give it an obelisk or trellis to climb up and it'll flourish.
- Fully hardy in nature, tolerating temperatures down to -20°C, this plant can withstand whatever the British winter throws at it. Who said you couldn't have style and substance?
- Note: this male kiwi plant does not produce fruit, itself, but rather acts as a pollinator to help female kiwi plants fruit. If you're buying your kiwi vine for fruit production, either buy this vine alongside a female plant, or choose a self-fertile variety.
