Bare Root

Our bare root trees are lifted fresh from the field and packed straight away. You can be sure they will be fresh when they arrive. In winter, you can store for several weeks if kept in a cool, dark spot. Later in spring, when the temperature rises, you will want to plant within a few days of arrival.

This tree is grown in an Air-Pot®, which promotes healthy root growth by air-pruning roots and preventing root spiraling. Before delivery, we will unclip the Air-Pot® and wrap the tree's rootball in hessian so that your tree can be transported safely and we can reuse the pot. You can also purchase the Air-Pot® seperately if you prefer and we will send the tree in the pot in which it was grown.

Although 'Victoria' crops quicker than other varieties, you may only see your first few handfuls of plums two years after planting, so you should not expect substantial crops until the fourth/fifth year.

Pollination group

Pollination groups relate to the time of the year when a tree flowers. Trees that flower at the same time can pollinate each other, which helps produce fruit if not self-fertile, and can still improve yields even if they are. Trees can usually pollinate a group either side of their own; i.e "2" can pollinate 1, 2 and 3.

The 'Victoria' plum tree is an excellent choice for a pot of 50 to 60 centimetres, provided it is grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock like Pixy.

The Victoria Plum Tree typically reaches a mature height of 3 to 4.5 metres and a spread of 3 to 4 metres, though this can be restricted by using dwarfing rootstocks.

How much sunlight does this need?

For optimal growth and fruit production, planting Victoria Plum in a location that receives full sunlight, ideally at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun per day, is essential. It thrives in a warm, sunny position with temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
