Common Hornbeam Hedging
Carpinus betulus
- A semi evergreen native hedge which boasts excellent autumn colour, catkins in spring and fruit for the birds in autumn and through to winter
- A UK native plant which is easy to care for and can be grown in even poor conditions including shade, high winds, clay or wet soil
- A fully hardy, slow growing plant which will reach a height of up to 8m but can easily be maintained at 1-5m
- Hornbeam works well as a single species hedge or mixed with other native species
