How To Grow

Good pest and disease resistance

May be affected by aphids or capsid bugs - check the leaves regularly for any possible infestation. If you see some, pick the bugs off by hand and spray the infected area with some soapy water. You can also plant a companion plant nearby such as Marigolds. These will attract predatory insects such as ladybirds that will eat the aphids. To prevent powdery mildew, you should space apart the plants adequately to prevent overcrowding and tight, humid conditions. Water at the base into the soil, not on the leaves, and try to prevent the water splashing off the soil and onto the leaves.

Water regularly in summer

Water regularly when newly planted, especially during dry periods. Once the roots have established, it will need very little watering except in prolonged hot and dry periods.

Full sun to partial shade

Plant in a sheltered spot where the plant will receive at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily.

Moist, well-drained soil

Clay, loam or sandy soil is ideal.

Feed annually

Feed once a year in the spring with a general purpose, slow release shrub fertiliser. ?v=1613300718
