Chaenomeles japonica
- A bushy, spreading deciduous shrub with a medium growth rate
- Rounded, glossy leaves (flushed with red when they first emerge) provide the perfect backdrop to clusters of red-orange cup shaped flowers in spring. In summer you'll see scented yellow quinces which are edible and can be made into quince jelly or membrillo!
- Makes an eyecatching specimen plant in a mixed shrub border, or as part of an informal hedge - Chaenomeles can also be wall-trained
- A fully hardy shrub which will reach a height of up to 1.5m
- Winner of the RHS Plants for Pollinators title, this is a plant with real wildlife appeal

Meet Cameron
Putting shrubs in the starlight (and boy do they shine…)
Cameron is mad about plants, which is lucky, really, because he’s absolutely surrounded by them here at the nursery. Having studied at the Student Plant Unit at Pershore College, Cameron went on to compete at the Grand Finals for the 2022 Horticulturist of the Year Awards. With a team of dedicated growers on hand to help, Cameron utilises our industry-leading nursery (and the lovely, fertile conditions of the Cotswolds) to grow shrubs that aren’t just good-looking, they’re good-growing too.
