'Kentish Cob' Hazelnut Tree
- This variety is a cobnut (a type of hazelnut).
- A large deciduous nut tree or shrub with broad green leaves. Pendulous catkins appear in spring, followed by large tasty nuts in autumn.
- A neat little tree - hardy and low maintenance - ideal for any size of garden, growing to just 3 x 3m and can be pruned smaller.
- A reliable nut with a superior flavour.
- Also known as 'Lambert's Filbert' and 'Longue' cobnut.
- Grow in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered spot.
- Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
- Can be grown as a specimen tree or used for screening or hedging.
- Cobnuts can be eaten straight from the tree or used in baking and desserts.
- Cobnuts, filberts, and other kinds of hazelnuts are all in the hazel genus Corylus. Cobnuts can be distinguished from filberts by their shorter husks, but the main thing you need to know is that they're absolutely delicious!
