Syringa 'Bloomerang Dark Purple'
- 'Bloomerang Dark Purple' is an appropriate name for this lilac variety because it doesn't just flower once (the boomerang being thrown), it actually flowers twice (the boomerang returning). The first flush is from late spring to early summer, with the additional second flush occurring from the end of summer into early autumn.
- With a maximum height well under two metres, this lovely lilac is an excellent choice for smaller beds and borders; you can either include it within a flowering hedge or let it be the star of the show on its own as a standalone feature plant.
- Boasting intensely purple, superbly-scented flowers against a backdrop of lush green, heart-shaped foliage, this variety has us utterly besotted.
- The blooms make for excellent cut flowers, thanks to both their visual and olfactory appeal. And if the flowers are appealing to us, it's no wonder that they're also a big hit with bees and butterflies who feast on the nectar.
- Lilacs are incredibly easy-going, low maintenance shrubs to grow, requiring little by way of additional aftercare (i.e. pruning and feeding).
