- One of the most charming ornamental trees you'll ever see, 'Greenspire' is a small-leaved lime (or linden) tree worth keeping on your horticultural radar. Growing to well over 12 metres tall, the tree dazzles in autumn as its once-green foliage takes on enchanting yellow hues.
- Hardy, easy to grow and vigorous in nature, this tree has grown popular for street plantings, but it will look just as good as a feature tree in the garden at home. Don't let the tall height put you off, either, as with yearly pruning it can easily be kept shorter.
- At the height of summer, the tree produces wonderfully fragrant, yellow flower clusters that contrast beautifully with the dark green foliage. On established, mature trees, this clothing of flowers lends the tree an almost glimmering, magical quality.
- A recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, 'Greenspire' has been shown to perform particularly well in British gardens. It also boasts Plants for Pollinators status, indicating its appeal to bees and butterflies.
- Did you know? Linden wood has been used for a whole manner of things, historically, including both making Viking shields and being the material from which carvings were made at St. Paul's Cathedral, Windsor Castle and Chatsworth House.

While possible in a very large container (80cm+) initially, Small-Leaved Lime Tree is a large, vigorous tree and is not suited to long-term pot cultivation. It should be planted in the ground after 1-3 years.
How big does it get?
The Small-Leaved Lime Tree grows to a mature height of 15 to 20 metres, with a spread of 10 to 12 metres, although it can be maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning.
How much sunlight does this need?
Small-Leaved Lime Tree prefers full sun to partial shade, requiring at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to thrive.
What kind of soil does this plant prefer?
Small-Leaved Lime Tree prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil, but is quite adaptable to most soil types including clay, loam, and chalk. It tolerates winter ground temperatures down to -10°C. Plant in a hole at least 50cm wide for best results.
How much watering does this plant need?
