The highlights

  • Happy in both full sun and partial shade
  • Train up a wall, arbour or trellis
  • Flowers from June to August
  • Deliciously sweet jasmine perfume

Description

  • Beautiful, delicate and highly fragrant pink and white starry flowers (plus mid green foliage) on climbing stems
  • Also known as 'Ganmin 1701', this jasmine's stellate, bicolour flowers appear between June and August, releasing a bold perfume that smells particularly delightful in the evenings and at night
  • A strong deciduous climber, 'Starry Starry Summer Scent' can easily be trained and will quickly cover drab vertical surfaces like shed walls or tired fences. It can also be grown up an obelisk or trellis in beds and large containers
  • This plant is hardy, easy to care for and will add oodles of visual impact to your garden
  • Pollinators typically like jasmine plants, and this variety is no exception! Its strong aroma draws butterflies, bees and birds to its flowers crammed full of nectar
  • Please Note: Our climbers are pruned back each winter, and some during the summer, so you may find at certain times of year they do not cover the whole 90cm cane. This is intentional to ensure the best growth when you plant out

How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

This variety generally has very few problems with disease. It can be affected by mealybugs, aphids or glasshouse spider mite but problems are rarely serious and minor infestations can be treated by spraying with soapy water.

Water regularly when establishing

Water your jasmine well during its first year to help it establish properly. Subsequent watering will only be needed during particularly dry spells. If you're growing your jasmine in a container, then it will need watering more regularly.

Full sun to partial shade

Plant 'Starry Starry Summer Scent' in a position where it will receive at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day. This variety can handle some dappled shade.

Any fertile, moist, well-drained soil

This jasmine will grow well in any soil type providing it is moist and well drained. If your soil is heavy or clay-based, mix in some fine gravel or perlite when planting, to help with drainage.

Feed every spring

Jasmines in the ground can be given a general-purpose, granular fertiliser in spring to encourage growth. For jasmines grown in containers, feed monthly with a liquid feed (that's high in potassium) like tomato feed.
