The Highlights

    • Beautiful purple star-like flowers with bright yellow centres
    • RHS Award Winner for spectacular blooms
    • Flowering from June all the way to September
    • Semi-evergreen that will keep its leaves through milder winters
    • Vigorous grower that can quickly cover structures such as walls
    • Frost hardy but may need protection for colder winters
    • Please Note: Our climbers are pruned back each winter, and some during the summer, so you may find at certain times of year they do not cover the whole 90cm cane. This is intentional to ensure the best growth when you plant out

Care Guide

Good Pest and Disease Resistance

May have issues with aphids, red spider mites (if grown indoors), grey mould and tomato spotted wilt. To get rid of aphids, pick away infestations with your handsand then spray the infected area down with soapy water. To get rid of Red Spider mites simply spray your plant with water, as red spider mites thrive in dry locations. To prevent Grey Mould try to maintain good garden hygiene by rmoving dead and dying plant matter and pruning away leaves to open the plant up to good air circulation. Also try to prevent the actual plant becoming too damp by watering at the soil as much as possible.MORE

Water Regularly

Water the plant regularly during the summer, especially during hot and dry periods and especially if you are container-growing the plant. During the winter the plant will need significantly less watering and ymay only require a watering once every week to two weeks.MORE

Full Sun

Plant somewhere the plant will receive 6-8 hours of direct sunlight everyday during Spring and Summer.MORE

Fertile, Well-Drained Soil

If your soil is particularly clay heavy and gets waterlogged often, make sure you mix in plenty of organic matter and perhaps even gravel or perlite to help improve drainage.MORE

Feed Annually

Feed with a balanced slow-release fertiliser in Spring.MORE

Prune Annually

Pruning Group 12–Flowers grow on that year's new growth. Pruning is best done in Spring. Then you can prune away any weak, congested, or damaged growth. Then you can cut all the new growth branches back to 6 from the main framework. You can also train the plant atthis timeso you may want to leave some of the new growth as is and tie it up your structure.MORE
