Delphinium 'Highlander Cha Cha'

This plant can, at times, be targeted by slugs and snails. It may also be prone to powdery mildew and have occasional aphid issues. For slugs and snails, it's recommended that you keep the area around the plant free of detritis and as dry as possible, especially at night; slugs and snails are known for loving damp conditions. You can use barriers (like egg shells or copper wire) to surround the plant to help prevent slugs and snails from reaching the leaves. For more serious slug and snail control you can also use specific nematodes that will target them. To prevent downy mildew, avoid crowded and humid conditions. Properly space plants apart and get rid of any weeds. To combat aphids, you can pick away the bugs with your hands and also wash the infested areas down with soapy water.

Delphiniums do best in moist soil so make sure you water your plant often in the summer months, so that the soil doesn't become dry. During dry spells, this could require watering every two or three days.

This plant does best somewhere it receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.

Plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Amend your soil with organic matter or perlite to improve drainage if necessary.

Give your plant a weekly feed with a liquid fertiliser (rich in potassium) from when blooms appear to the end of August.
