The highlights

  • Crisp, sweet and juicy
  • Grown on a dwarfing rootstock
  • Eating, juicing and scrummy baking
  • Pick from September

Description

  • Duo fruit trees are a real sight to behold (with their Y or V shape) and offer greater fruiting options for those gardeners limited on space (this tree is grown on an M26 dwarfing rootstock)
  • 'Jonagold' boasts seriously scrumptious, blush-coloured apples that eat, cook and store well (for several months)
  • 'Golden Pearmain' was grown by Thomas Jefferson back in the late 18th century, and remains popular today thanks to the juiciness and flavour of its yellow-green apples (which have just a hint of acidity to round out the overall profile)
  • Certified by the RHS as one of its Plants for Pollinators, your apple tree will attract bees and other beneficial wildlife to your garden
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch
  • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth

How To Grow

Average pest and disease resistance

Like many apple trees, this duo tree can be affected by aphids, powdery mildews, canker and scab.

Water regularly while establishing

Established apple trees don't typically need much additional watering, apart from in hot and dry spells, but newly-planted apple trees benefit from regular watering during their first season to help their roots develop.

Full sun

Apple trees grow best in full sun where they receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Any fertile, well-drained soil

Apple trees tend to grow best in fertile soil with ample drainage. If your soil is poor, then try working in some organic matter (like garden compost).

Feed every spring

Using a high-potassium fertiliser at the start of spring will benefit your apple tree.
