'Flame' Grape Vine
- Boasting large bunches of scrumptious dark red grapes with bucketloads of juicy flavour, 'Flame' is a seedless, outdoor grape vine we think everybody should know about.
- Find a sheltered, sunny spot and let your vine soak up the rays. If you live in a colder, more exposed part of the UK, you might want to consider growing the vine in a greenhouse, instead.
- Perfect for both eating fresh and using to make juice, this US table grape variety produces fruit whose taste far surpasses anything you'll find in a supermarket punnet.
- A relatively compact vine, 'Flame' grows to an eventual height of under two metres tall, making it an ideal pick for those gardens where space is a little more limited.
- Pair your grape plant with citrus trees, lavender bushes and fragrant star jasmine to create the a Mediterranean garden everyone will envy.

Will this grow in my garden?
Can I grow this in a pot?
Yes, 'Flame' Grape can be cultivated in a large pot (at least 40 to 50 litres), but will require regular watering and a support structure.
How big does it get?
The 'Flame' Grape Vine is a vigorous climber that can reach up to 4 metres in length if left unpruned.
How much sunlight does this need?
The 'Flame' Grape Vine needs full sun, requiring a minimum of 7 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily to ripen properly.
What kind of soil does this plant prefer?
The 'Flame' Grape Vine prefers deep, well-draining soil, and the roots should be planted at a depth of about 15 cm to protect them from winter temperatures dropping below 0°C.
How much watering does this plant need?
The 'Flame' Grape Vine needs deep watering about once a week, providing roughly 2.5 centimetres of water, especially during prolonged dry periods.
Will this plant need pruning?
Yes, the 'Flame' Grape Vine requires strict pruning in mid-winter to control its growth and ensure a good harvest.
How hardy is this plant?
The 'Flame' grape vine is half-hardy (RHS H3), tolerating temperatures down to -5°C. It requires the warmth and protection of a greenhouse or conservatory to grow successfully in the UK, as it is unlikely to survive or crop well outdoors, especially in the north.
