The Highlights

    • Broad-crowned deciduous tree
    • Gorgeous long yellow racemes glimmer in the sunlight, contrasting with its deep green oval ternate leaves
    • Also known as the Pride of India
    • Grows up to 6x9m
    • Tolerant of urban conditions
    • Provides year-long interest
    • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post.MORE
    • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch.
    • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE

Know Your Plant

Supplied as:

9L Eco Pot
This tree is supplied in a 9L Eco Pot, which is approx D15 x H30cm. Eco Pots use 70% less plastic then traditional pots and can be recycled easily. A 9L pot allows ample space for good root development and can support a good size tree.
Bare Root
Our trees are supplied as “bare roots” meaning that the roots of the trees are established below the ground but not actively growing (dormant) between November and March. As bare roots are stored without any soil or pot, they would easily settle themselves when in contact with soil in your garden. Don't panic if your tree is not showing any sign of growth above the ground comes April, as its still in the dormant phase.

Care Guide

High Pest/Disease resistance

Generally pest and disease resistant. May be susceptible to root rot when over-watered and allowed to sit in wet soil. May also be susceptible to Canker,MORE

Water regularly during growing season

Water the tree regularly with a garden hose throughout the growing season. The tree is drought tolerant once established, and also tolerant of floodingMORE

Full Sun

Position in Full Sun (6h+)MORE

Moist but well-drained soil

Can grow in almost any moist but well-drained soil, from sandy to clay and from acidic to slightly alkalineMORE

Prune Annually

Only prune a young Golden Rain Tree for health not for shape as it is naturally thin with uneven growth in its early stages. The only pruning that should be done is removing lower limbs that are dead or any limbs that cross other limbs and touch. Do not cut branches flush with the tree or right against the trunk as it will delay the healing process and allow damaging insects and disease to enter the treeMORE
