Hosta 'Canadian Blue'
- Forming a vigorous, clump-forming mound up to 45cm tall, Hosta 'Canadian Blue' features stunning cordate leaves with deeply-impressed veins and a beautiful, blue-silver sheen.
- During the summer, this hosta sends up graceful stems bearing loose clusters of delicate, bell-shaped, pale-purple flowers that contrast wonderfully against its cool-toned foliage.
- Thanks to its thicker, more robust leaf structure, this blue-leaved cultivar is more resistant to damage from slugs and snails than many other traditional hosta varieties.
- It's an exceptionally hardy, low-maintenance plant that thrives in partial to full shade, making it a superb choice for woodland gardens, shady patio pots or for underplanting mature shrubs.
- The genus was named in honour of the 19th-century Austrian botanist, Nicholas Thomas Host, who served as the personal physician to the Holy Roman Emperor.
