The highlights

  • Sweet with a lovely tangy kick
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner
  • Rustle up a pomegranate and orange cheesecake
  • Harvest from August to November

Description

  • Looking for a new star for your patio? Look no further! 'Nana' is a delightful little pomegranate bush which we've trained into a classic, lollipop-shaped standard that's perfect for container growing.
  • Boasting glossy foliage, stunning crimson flowers and utterly delicious, rounded, red-brown fruits, this plant is small but most definitely mighty.
  • The foliage is worth talking about in more detail, given the various hues it takes on throughout the year; often starting out with coppery tints, the leaves go on to become shiny green, before finally adopting more golden hues as autumn rolls around.
  • Easy to care for and low-maintenance, this bushy plant is an ideal pick for gardeners looking to introduce something more unusual, without having to learn a rigorous care routine.
  • A recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, this variety certainly has its legions of devoted fans - including us!

How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Rarely troubled by pests or diseases.

Water during dry spells

While pomegranates are fairly drought tolerant once established, they'll benefit from watering throughout their first growing season, post-planting, and in hot, dry spells thereafter.

Full sun

Plant somewhere that your pomegranate tree will receive at least six hours of direct sunlight per day.

Any well-drained soil

Plant in soil with good drainage and preferably good levels of fertility.

Feed every spring

Apply a layer of well-rotted manure every spring to replenish your tree's nutrients. For pot-grown pomegranates, remove the top layer of compost and replace with new loamy compost (like John Innes No 3).
