How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Our first grade potatoes are certified virus free and have high pest and disease resistance, making them the best way of avoiding potato problems including blight, blackleg and scab. For the best health, harvest when the soil is neither wet nor very hard and dry and store your potatoes in cool, dry conditions.

Water well

Water your potatoes well when planting, then make sure the soil is kept moist but take care not to overwater as this can make the potatoes rot.

Full sun to partial shade

Potatoes need a sunny, sheltered site as the young foliage is susceptible to frost damage in April and May.

Loose, well draining soil

Potatoes grow best in loose, well draining soil (such as sandy loam) and prefer a soil that is slightly acidic (pH 4.8 to 5.4). It is a good idea to add some organic material (such as compost or well rotted manure) to improve the soil quality.

Feed regularly

Using a specialist potato feed will increase your crop - before planting, mix in a handful for each 30-40cm of soil (roughly the area of one plant) After planting, apply more fertilizer every four to six weeks according to the instructions.
