The highlights

  • Fully hardy with an upright, bushy habit
  • Starry, pinkish white flowers from March
  • Attractive (and delicious!) berries in summer
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner

Description

  • This tree is as impressive as it is tough (and it's pretty darn tough...) - it produces an explosion of pinkish white blossoms in spring, as well as delicious, fresh berries, and foliage that changes hues throughout the year
  • Lanceolate leaves emerge bronze, before becoming green, and then ultimately taking on fiery colours in the autumn
  • A naturally compact, upright tree, this variety is ideal for smaller garden spaces
  • Incredibly hardy, this tree that can withstand temperatures below -20°C
  • 'Robin Hill' is a (highly-worthy) recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit - an indication of how well it performs in British gardens
  • Yields edible berries (often called juneberries) that are somewhat comparable to blueberries; pick when a ripe, purple colour and use to make jam or a delicious pie!
  • The berries are also popular with birds like robins, woodpeckers and finches
  • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth

How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Isn't typically affected by pests. Can be affected by diseases like honey fungus or fireblight.

Water regularly

Water well, particularly whilst establishing and during dry spells.

Full sun to partial shade

Grows best in full sun (6+ hours of direct sunlight) but will happily tolerate part shade.

Any moist, acidic, well-draining soil

'Robin Hill' grows well in most soil, provided it's free of lime and has good drainage.

Feed in spring

Apply a balanced fertiliser (eg. 10-10-10) in the springtime to help promote better flowering.
