'Concorde' Pear Tree
- What do you get when you cross ‘Conference’ and ‘Doyenné du Comice’ pears? Step forward ‘Concorde’!
- This popular variety has been bred to combine the texture and productivity of ‘Conference’ with the decadent, gourmet taste of ‘Doyenné du Comice’
- Perfectly suited to the UK climate, ‘Concorde’ is able to grow well in colder, more exposed locales
- This doesn’t lead to a compromise on flavour, though, with fine-tasting, honeyed fruits cropping late in the season towards the end of October
- One of the best keeping pears – pick them just before they're ripe and you can store them right the way through until January
- Yields double the crop of both its parent trees; in fact, you can expect a good crop within just two years
- ‘Concorde’ is (unsurprisingly) a recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, which is conferred upon those plants deemed to be of particularly high quality
- Grafted onto a Quince A rootstock, this pear tree grows to a maximum height and width of just four by four metres, meaning that it will happily fit in most gardens
- Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch
- Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth

The 'Concorde' pear tree is excellent for pot cultivation in a container of 50 centimetres, especially when grafted onto a Quince C rootstock.

The Concorde Pear Tree typically reaches a mature height of 3 to 4.5 metres and a spread of 3 to 4 metres, though this can be restricted by using dwarfing rootstocks.
How much sunlight does this need?
For optimal growth and fruit production, planting Concorde Pear in a location that receives full sunlight, ideally at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun per day, is essential. It thrives in a warm, sunny position with temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
