Good pest and disease resistance
Slugs and aphids can be a problem for rocket. To prevent slug damage, keep the area around the plants as clean and dry as possible, especially during the night. Use barriers such as crushed egg shells or copper wire.
Water regularly during dry spells
Water well in dry spells - after an initial watering when planted, it shouldn't be needed in autumn and winter
Full sun to partial shade
Grows best in a position with at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight
Any fertile, well-draining soil
Thrives in any well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.
