How To Grow

Good pest and disease resistance

Our vegetable plug plants are bred for good pest and disease resistance, but may still be susceptible to common problems. Pak Choi can be affected by slugs and snails - keep the area around the plant debris free and as dry as possible, especially at night as the slimy fiends love damp conditions. You can use barriers such as crushed egg shells, fine gravel or copper wire to surround the plant to prevent slugs and snails reaching the leaves.

Water well

Pak Choi is a thirsty plant which will need watering up to twice a day in hot, dry weather. Water in well when planting.

Partial shade

Pak Choi needs a spot with a bit of sun and shade

Any fertile, well-draining soil

Thrives in any well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.

Feed regularly

Add a balanced liquid fertilizer or manure tea at the time of planting and again at mid-summer.
