Button Snakewort
Liatris spicata
- With its distinctive bottle brush flowers and charming strappy foliage, button snakewort is an underappreciated gem we feel should be seen in far more gardens.
- Growing to roughly 70cm, this plant is an ideal pick for the back of shorter borders, or the mid-border in the case of taller beds.
- An extremely hardy plant, this liatris can withstand incredibly severe cold (RHS H7) and still come out the other side kicking. Plants don't get much tougher!
- Did you know? Button snakewort also sometimes goes by another, rather charming name: blazing star.
- Liatris spicata is on the Royal Horticultural Society's Plants for Pollinators list, showcasing its benefits to pollinators like bees and butterflies.
