The highlights

  • A beautifully-balanced sweet-tart mix
  • Incredibly unusual striped rind
  • Juice and use in a blood orange G&T
  • Harvest from September to November

Description

  • Some people call it the rainbow orange, but we think it's altogether more fierce than that, so, with that in mind, it's our privilege to introduce you to... The tiger orange!
  • Take a Meyer lemon. Take a blood orange. Put 'em together. BAM. You get the tiger orange. Putting the ripe in stripey, this highly-sought-after variety is as delicious to eat as it is beautiful to look at.
  • With dark blood-orange flesh, red-orange striped rind and some serious attitude, this citrus superstar boasts a flavour profile both sweet and tart; perfect for eating fresh, juicing and using as a sliced garnish (G&T, anyone?)
  • Alongside the flavourful fruits, this patio orange tree also produces myriad, perfumed white blooms which pop brilliantly against the dark evergreen foliage which serves as a brilliant backdrop.
  • Put your tree in a fully sunny position on the patio where it can bask in the rays, then, when the first frosts roll around, move it indoors to protect it from the cold. Come spring, after the last frost, you can move it back outdoors again!
  • Fun fact: the fruit develops its red streaks more vividly later in the year, because the production of the anthocyanin pigments that cause red pigmentation is enhanced as temperatures drop.
  • It's the rind of the tiger, it's the pith of the bite... 🎶

Best plants you will ever get online

I have ordered plants from them twice this year. They arrived well packaged, on time and looked strong and healthy. I feel the staff from Roots plants deal with their plants and customers with passion and care. I can’t wait to order again, price is good as well.

Satisfied customer

Unlike other online sellers, this company are well ahead in the quality stakes. My plant arrived promptly as per their promise and the plant was much more established and healthy than I had expected. It’s the second time I have ordered from them and I have faith in their promise. Excellent service.

A really good quality tree, delivered on time and very well packaged. But the emailed planting advice and supporting information was what really impressed me. Thoroughly recommended.

The quality of the plants was exceptional, unlike ones I have had before from local garden centres. Thank you so much. I will definitely be using you again.
