Acer platanoides 'Drummondii'
Variegated Maple Tree
- Few trees are as striking as this fast-growing, variegated Norway maple; its abundant moss-green leaves are bordered by delicate, eggshell margins, adding visual texture and interest wherever it’s planted.
- In autumn, the tree takes on scorching shades of yellow and orange, warming your garden as the temperatures (and leaves) start to drop.
- Growing to an impressive 12 metres tall – but easily pruned and kept to a more manageable three or four metres in height – this showstopper is perfect for a whole range of gardens.
- During springtime, before the leaves emerge, the tree becomes wreathed in small yellow flower clusters, further adding to its already-hefty ornamental appeal.
- Easy to grow, incredibly hardy and tolerant of many different soil conditions, this tree really doesn’t put a foot wrong. Oh, and it’s a big hit with pollinators, too!

Yes, Acer platanoides 'Drummondii' can be grown in a pot. A 50-60cm pot is ideal. It can live in a pot long-term if repotted every few years. Ensure good drainage and protect roots from freezing temperatures below -5°C.

The Variegated Maple Tree reaches a mature height of 12 to 15 metres, with a spread of 8 to 10 metres, although it can be maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning.
