Care Guide

Good disease/pest resistance

All brassicas can suffer from Cabbage Root Fly, Club Root, Cabbage Caterpillars and Cabbage Whitefly. It is recommended that you cover your Red Cabbage (and all brassicas) with a garden fleece to prevent them being eaten by pests. To prevent Club Root ensure that your soil is well draining and not too acidic. You may see the leaves wilt and turn purple. Below ground the roots will have become swollen and bulbous. Club Root is caused by a bacterial infection so if it occurs you should not plant brassicas there again for 4 years. If you find a plant with Club Root then burn it to try and prevent it from spreading to the rest of your garden. MORE
