The highlights

  • Bursting with sumptuous sweetness
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner
  • Make an Eton mess (with a twist)
  • Pick your raspberries in June and July

Description

  • Whether you eat them straight from the plant, sprinkle them over a pavlova or create jars and jars of sweet, scrummy jam, raspberries undoubtedly have a place in the great fruiting pantheon. And when you grow them yourself? Well, they taste just that little bit better!
  • 'Malling Minerva' is an exceptional early-season, summer-fruiting variety, reliably producing large crops of delicious raspberries on floricanes (year-old stems).
  • The fruit has great texture and firmness, making them ideal for freezing.
    • We love raspberries. We don't love having our hands and arms receiving an impromptu acupuncture session each time we try and pick the fruit... Relax, though, because this variety has no spines, meaning you can put that dusty first-aid box away.
    • Grow your raspberry plant(s) against a wire trellis fixed to a wall, using a freestanding raspberry trellis or even in a large pot on the patio (at least 10L).
    • A deserved recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, this variety is known for performing well in British gardens.
    • Certified by the RHS as one of its Plants for Pollinators - be(e)autiful stuff!

Water regularly

Water regularly

Raspberry plants prefer that their soil be kept consistently moist. We'd recommend that you water your plant(s) regularly throughout the growing season, and particularly during extended periods of hot, dry weather. Raspberry plants grown in containers require even more routine watering. When watering, aim at the plant's base, keeping the foliage, flowers and fruit dry where possible (this protects against the risk of fungal disease).

Full sun

Full sun

Plant your raspberry cane(s) in full sun (where they receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day).

Any moist, well-drained soil

Any moist, well-drained soil

If your soil has poor drainage, then we'd recommend enriching it with some organic matter (or even some horticultural grit/perlite). In terms of soil pH, this variety prefers neutral to acidic conditions.

Feed every spring

Feed every spring

A springtime application of fertiliser (something high in potassium) will help your raspberry cane(s) grow better.

Best plants you will ever get online

I have ordered plants from them twice this year. They arrived well packaged, on time and looked strong and healthy. I feel the staff from Roots plants deal with their plants and customers with passion and care. I can’t wait to order again, price is good as well.

Satisfied customer

Unlike other online sellers, this company are well ahead in the quality stakes. My plant arrived promptly as per their promise and the plant was much more established and healthy than I had expected. It’s the second time I have ordered from them and I have faith in their promise. Excellent service.

A really good quality tree

A really good quality tree, delivered on time and very well packaged. But the emailed planting advice and supporting information was what really impressed me. Thoroughly recommended.

Exceptional quality

The quality of the plants was exceptional, unlike ones I have had before from local garden centres. Thank you so much. I will definitely be using you again.

Marvellous service, great plants and fast delivery. Very useful information on how to care for the plants I bought. Easy to use website that makes it far too easy to overindulge in fabulous plants 😂🌱
