- This plant really is a strong performer; yielding large quantities of jumbo berries throughout the summer and exhibiting particularly good resistance to pesky fungal diseases, 'Titania' is the blackcurrant bush that truly does it all

Good pest and disease resistance
Can be affected by aphids and gall mites, as well as leaf and coral spot. Companion plants like marigolds will attract ladybirds and other predators that feast upon aphids, well a spray of soapy water on the affected area can also help dislodge them and prevent them from returning. Ensuring good garden hygiene can help reduce the risk of leaf or coral spot.
Water well when establishing
To help your blackcurrant plant establish, water it well during its first growing season. Once established, additional watering will only typically be needed during hot, dry spells.

Plant somewhere that your blackcurrant bush will receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
Any moist, well-drained soil
'Titania' will grow best in soil with good drainage but that still retains some moisture. If your soil is nice and fertile, then even better.
Feed in winter
Blackcurrant plants like this one appreciate a winter feed with a high-potassium fertiliser, as well as a mulch around the plant's base, making sure to leave a small gap between the mulch and the stems.
