Description
- 'Brown Turkey' is fully hardy, so it'll produce baskets full of figs in the UK without needing additional winter protection. The plump, sweet fruits develop in spring and ripen from August to September.

Good pest and disease resistance
Generally a happy, healthy and trouble-free plant. Can sometimes be affected by honey fungus, scale insects and spider mites.
Water regularly throughout the growing season
Fig trees require 2.5-4cm of water per week either from rainfall or watering. The tree will let you know if it needs to be watered through yellowing foliage and the dropping of leaves.
Full sun
Plant your fig tree in a sheltered location that will receive at least six hours of direct sunlight per day.
Any loamy, moist but well-drained soil
Most garden soils will have more than enough fertility for a fig tree to flourish, but if it's on the particularly heavy (or sandy) side, then you can dig in some well-rotted compost.
Feed yearly (or throughout the growing season)
For ground-grown figs, apply some slow-release fertiliser at the start of spring. For container-grown figs, apply a high-potassium liquid feed (like tomato fertiliser) fortnightly throughout the growing season.
